7. Packing tips

One of the first things I bought was a good comfortable rucksack. Good ones are really expensive, some costing over €300. So I put an alert on DoneDeal and within a month I had the choice of several used ones.

Osprey is a brand that comes highly recommended. Here is the one I brought second-hand, it was used once on a trip to South America and is in perfect condition. I got it for about half the RRP.

I spotted this great packing list on one of the many Facebook Interrail Groups that I follow.

I would add the following items to the above list:
  • A spare old phone and charger
  • Photocopies of Interrail seat reservations and supplement, and of passport
  • An Irish extension lead with a European plug fitted on one end, handy for charging several devices at the same time.
